SWK 262 - Social Work Elective: Introduction to Child Welfare Practice Credits: 3 Provides knowledge and understanding of some of the primary problems in the field of child welfare. Improves students’ ability to identify and assess various types of child maltreatment and neglect. Family relationships, social, cultural, legal, and other environmental influences are included in the assessment. Introduces the child welfare system and current best practices in child welfare treatment and intervention through interactive and experiential course work. Requires observation in a child-welfare related organization.
Prerequisite(s): SWK 102 with minimum grade of C
