HIST 353 - Modern Southeast Asia Credits: 3 Provides an understanding of modern Southeast Asian history from the early 1500s through the post-colonial period. After a brief introduction to Southeast Asia’s early history, the main themes explored are nature and impact European colonization, growth of nationalist resistance movements and the subsequent emergence of modern nation states. Concludes by addressing the main issues confronting post-colonial Southeast Asia.
Prerequisite(s): HIST 105 or HONR 122 and sophomore standing or permission of instructor.
