PHL 336 - Concepts in Buddhism Credits: 3 Investigates the religion of Buddhism and some of its essential concepts. History, development, nature, and contemporary relevance of these essential concepts are examined. Concepts are considered from the perspective of the different forms of Buddhism, such as Zen, Theravada, and Mahayana. Included are avidya (spiritual ignorance), anatta (no-self), anicca (impermanence), dukkha (suffering), and nirvana (extinction, enlightenment).
