CNS 504 - Introduction to School Counseling Credits: 3 Studies the history of school counseling and the development of counselors and counseling programs in schools. Provides practical means to make use of counseling and guidance theories and techniques, as seen in school settings. Describes administrative activities that provide the framework for school counseling services. Studies prevention and intervention strategies that contribute to the academic mission of the school as well as students’ career, personal, and social development. Describes effective leadership, proactive strategies, and advocacy for students and counseling programs.
