SOC 243 - Race in America Credits: 3 Studies sociological principles underlying relations between dominant and subordinate groups, with a specific focus on racial inequality in the United States. The causes of the unequal power and treatment of subordinate groups will be examined, as well as the consequences of this inequality in a variety of areas of life, including education, employment, health, income and wealth, politics, etc.
Prerequisite(s): SOC 101 or HON 161 or permission of the instructor
